This is Shannon Porter. She brought treats and food for the animals - she spent her 2009 Christmas money on shelter sweethearts!
Hannah Regan asked her friends to bring money as gifts to her birthday party. She then gave the money to the shelter for the animals. Her friends are Jennifer Regan, Kelsey Quick and Zoe Miller.

 | I thought you might enjoy seeing some pictures of "Lucky". The kids renamed him "Jackson" when I brought him home. He is absolutely huge! He is absolutely a great source for entertainment as you can see in the photos. I wanted to make sure you knew how happy I am with my Dawson County Humane society Adoption! Buffie R. Build it and they will come! This old saying has certainly come true for the new animal shelter. Since opening April 1, 2008 the shelter has taken in almost 2000 animals. The cost for operating the shelter at the level we have is approximately $26,000 per month. We are in desperate need of pledged monthly support. Please put the shelter in your budget and give what you can to help care for these homeless animals. No matter the size of the contribution it helps a great deal.
For a $1,000 renewable annual contribution, you can sponsor one of the 150 spaces for our furry friends in need. As the shelter evolves physically and financially through the years, the Life Support Program will be flexible enough to change with the needs of the shelter. The Life Support Program can be the bedrock of financial stability for the animals.
A plaque recognizing members of the Life Support Team will hang in the lobby of the shelter. To sign up, please call the Dawson County Humane Society at 706-265-9160. |

To provide shelter to every homeless dog and cat in Dawson CountyDawson County has its first animal shelter. Your Dawson County Humane Society (DCHS) opened its new doors on April 1, 2008. Animal Control, a division of the Sheriff’s Department, now takes stray animals to the Dawson County Humane Society at 633 Martin Road, Dawsonville GA. This puts all the pets at an advantage for adoption. The citizens of Dawson County have taken responsibility for sheltering our own stray pets. Your DCHS is prepared to make adoption the rule rather than the exception for these displaced pets.
Here are ways you can help us accomplish our mission: |
