Angie and Chris Knepper present a check to Dr. Mills for the support of
the Dawson County Humane Society. The Kneppers were unable to attend the
Fur Ball event, but nevertheless presented a check for $200, the price for
two tickets to the event. Like other Dawson County business owners, the
Kneppers see the need for small businesses to support the Humane Society
objectives.
Board member Terry Cooksey delivers a certificate of appreciation to Jimmy
Bruce, Senior Vice President of United Community Bank – downtown
Dawsonville, Georgia location. UCB has been one of the many long standing
supporters of the Dawson County Humane Society. They have made their meeting
room available to us every month for many years now. Board member
Kurt Krattinger presented a certificate of appreciation to Dan Centofanti of
Mill Creek Environmental Engineering. Dan is the owner of Mill Creek and
approached the Humane Society in the early stages to offer his company's
services to benefit our construction project. He donated nearly $2500 of
engineering and testing services to help us prepare for construction. Dan
is a big pet-lover and is anxious to see our project be successful. Dawson County
Humane Society President Doc Mills stopped by Wilco Printing to present a
certificate of appreciation to owner, Jim Wilkins. Three generations of
Wilkins family can be seen in the store at any given time, and all have been
generous and kind to us. Thousands of dollars worth of printing has been
donated by Wilco over the years. Outright monetary gifts have been given by
the family as well. They are genuinely interested in seeing this project to
completion. Russ Anderson
presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Dawson County Humane
Society to Peter Hill of HDA Architects. HDA
designed the first animal shelter for Dawson County, the one we are
about to build! Peter is one of this nation's few architects specializing
in veterinary facilities, and he happens to live here in Dawson County.
Recently they guided us through the process of selecting the contractor.
HDA will continue to assist us as we build the shelter to help assure us
that the building is completed as designed. Pat
Anderson presented one of our Certificates of Appreciation to Yvonne
Bombardier, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Dawsonville. Yvonne has been a
long-time supporter of our efforts. She sponsored and promoted a successful
adoption event one Saturday in front of her store that fronts on Georgia
400. She has also donated food and treats to our stray animals in the
Foster/Adoption Program. We are so grateful to small-business owners like
Yvonne in Dawsonville. Board member Al
Jorgensen presents a certificate of appreciation from the Dawson County
Humane Society to Tim Singleton of Longhorn Steakhouse. Longhorn has been a
generous supporter of our Society with food and financial gifts. They have
pledged to continue support by catering special events as we approach
opening our new shelter. Pat Anderson and Gina Hequembourg presented Cumming Petsmart store manager, Anthony, with a certificate of appreciation. Almost all of our adoptions in the Foster/Adoption Program happen at Anthony's store. Board member
Candy Adams created the certificates and frames. Petsmart not only provides
the forum for our adoptions, but actively supports rescue organizations with
direct contributions of materials and money.
