DCHS events from 2005

A major milestone:  The Dawson County Humane Society crossed a monumental hurdle in the month of April, 2005. A lease for property was signed, in conjunction with the Dawson County Board of Commissioners and the Etowah Water and Sewer Authority, giving us access to over five acres of land next to Rock Creek Park.   Click to read more!

November 6th - The Kangaroo Conservation Center opened up especially for the Society, for tours to benefit our shelter. Click here or on the picture to see the 'roos.

October 22nd and 23rd -
Our volunteers worked the booth at the 38th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival. Click here or on the picture to see some of the people and fun.

Samantha Phelps helped in our tent at this year's Stock Dog Trials at Hubert Bailey's farm. We raised just over $600 between donations and the sale of our 'wares' over the three day event. Hubert and the Chamber of Commerce have been generous to us for 3 years running, letting us set up our tent and tables free of charge. We are grateful to friends such as these.

Kim Cornell and Don Lovell, Board members, are shown at our Yard Sale in Kroger's parking lot. The Yard Sale was organized chiefly by Carol Jarvis and Tim Biggie, who organized the previous sale done in the Spring at Thompson Creek Animal Hospital. The Spring sale brought in nearly $1000, and the recent Fall sale brought in over $2500. A big congratulations to our Yard Sale help!

Kim Cornell and Kathy Greene, Board members, organized this year's 3rd annual Golf Tournament, once again hosted by the beautiful Chestatee Club. This event brought in nearly $2800, thanks to the hard work of our Golf Tournament volunteers!
