A big thank-you to all our volunteers and contributors!

  • In the past months we have adopted out over 25 kittens and all of our available dogs.  Please click here to find out how you can help.
  • Peter Hill of HDA Architects tells us that the plans for the Dawson County Humane Society's animal shelter are completed!  What you have been shown in the past was a one page drawing of the design.  Now we have a complete set of architectural and engineering plans for the building, based on that original sketch.  A legal announcement has been in the local papers lately stating our desire for general contractors, project managers, and even subcontractors, any of these that are interested in bidding on the project, to contact the Humane Society ASAP.
  • Thanks to Dave Szymanski for arranging a donation of 3 tons of kitty litter from the Oil-Dri Corporation to the Dawson County Humane Society! Jimmy Bell used his truck and trailer to pick the donation up today. Brad and Cynthia Thrower provided storage and a forklift to unload the donation and keep it for us. The 20# bags of litter will be taken to fundraising events and sold for profit. Leftover litter will be used at the new animal shelter. Thanks to all who participated in this benevolent act.

These events are a great way to get involved in your Society.  Please visit our volunteer page for more information.

And please see our latest adoptables on the Pet of the Week page!

The Art in the Garden Festival was a great success for the artists and for the Dawson County Humane Society.

Lassie and Garfield worked with us during the month of June, to help find new homes for pets, and raise awareness for our new shelter.
