Dawson County Humane Society offers many services to the Dawson County community.  We strive to find happy loving homes for our dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, and offer services and products to help you care for your pets:

Adoption Policy

We expect each new pet owner to be responsible, caring guardians, and to provide proper food, water, shelter and medical treatment to their new pets.  Your pet adoption donation helps to cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, all age-appropriate vaccinations, and any special medical treatments prior to adoption.  Careful consideration should be given to adopting a pet as your adoption donation is non-refundable after 14 days.

Community Lost and Found

Dawson County Animal Control is responsibile for capturing stray or abandoned dogs and cats in our community, and they are brought to our Shelter for care and assessment by our trained staff.  Please contact the Shelter if you have a lost pet.  We charge a fee for the return of your pet, and encourage all pet owners to provide a safe and secure collar, with identification and vaccinations tags.  If you find a stray dog or cat, please contact the Dawson County Animal Control (Sheriff's Department) at 706-265-7387

Microchip Program

We offer microchipping to all age-appropriate pets at a reasonable fee to the general public.  Please contact the Shelter at 706-265-9160 for more information.

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program

If you are an adult resident of Dawson County and receive one of the following types of public assistance - Medicaid, WIC, food stamps, TANF, or if you are active-duty military - you may be eligible for our low-cost ($10.00) spay/neuter services.  For more information and to apply, please contact the Shelter at 706-265-9160.
